In line with his campaign promises, President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the student loan bill passed by the National Assembly.
President Tinubu gave his assent to the bill on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
With the assent, the Federal Government will establish Education Bank which would make the approval of loan to Nigerian students possible.
The bill was passed by both chambers of the National Assembly in November 2022. The bill was sponsored by the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Act seeks to provide financial assistance to Nigerian students in tertiary institutions.
An aide to the president, Dele Alake, disclosed this to State House Correspondents on Monday evening of the Mr President’s assent to the bill.
