Nigerian civil servants who become fathers to new born babies will henceforth have some days off work to nurse their infants, following the approval of 14-day paternity leave for new fathers.

The approval was made on Wednesday by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

Nigeria’s Head of Civil Service, Folasade Yemi-Esan, disclosed this while briefing Aso Rock media correspondents at the end of the weekly meeting.

She explained that paternity leave will allow fathers to properly bond with their newborn babies or adopted children.
