Senator Jilbrin Barau

Senator Jilbrin Barau has been elected as the 10th Deputy President of the Senate unopposed following the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President.

Barau was announced unopposed after the swearing of Senator Akpabio who defeated the former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulraziz Yari.

Senator Dave Umahi nominated him while Senator Saliu Mustapha seconded the motion.

There was no counter-nomination, making the Clerk to the National Assembly Sani Tambuwal declare him elected unopposed.

Barau succeeds the influential immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, from Delta State.
