Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay presenting cash gift to one of the market women

The Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Saturday presented cash gifts to 75 market women in Owhelogbo and Iyede wards in Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.

Okowa, during the presentation, assured that his administration would continue to support micro businesses in order to boost the state economy, adding that micro businesses are the livewire of any economy.

The governor, represented by the Director General, Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency (WUEDA), Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, praised market women in the state for contributing immensely to the economy of the state.

The 75 market women selected across Owhelogbo and Iyede wards of Isoko received as support N10,000 each.

He said the gesture was to assist the traders in their businesses, saying that his administration will always recognized their roles in the development of the state.

Speaking on his personal capacity, Macaulay, who is the donor, said the initiative was a furtherance of Governor Okowa-led government to empower the grassroots.

Macaulay said, the exercise was not the last, as he would, on his personal capacity, organise more, subsequently. Macaulay commended the governor for giving listening ears to his plea of including Owhelogbo and Iyede in the project even as he urged them to continue to support the government.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Margaret Onoriobe said, “On behalf of the women, I commend you. It is good that you fought for us. We thank you for remembering us. We will continue to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
