IDPs In Jubilation As Matthew Edevbie Donates Cow, Food Items To Okuama IDP Camp

Engr. Matthew Edevbie donated relief materials to Okuama IDP Camp

 

 

The Group Managing Director of Income Electrix Limited, Olorogun Dr. Engr Matthew Edevbie has donated food items worth millions of Naira to displaced people of Okuama in Ewu-Okuama IDP Camp, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Donating the items which include 6 bags of 50kg rice, 1 bag of 100kg beans, 60 litres of groundnut oil, 2 cartoons of tin tomatoes and one big cow, on Thursday at Ewu-Okuama IDP Camp, Engr. Edevbie disclosed that he identifies with the suffering and pains of the Okuama people who were sacked from their homes following the unfortunate incident in the community.

Speaking while presenting the items, the representative of Olorogun Edevbie, a senior staff of the company, Engr Morgan Muna, said that Olorogun Edevbie feels the pains and suffering of the Okuama people, hence he came to support the efforts of the government and other good-spirited Nigerians to cushion the impact of the crisis.

According to him, “Olorogun Matthew Edevbie sent me here today to bring this food item to the Okuama IDP Camp to alleviate the suffering of our people who are displaced by the incident that happened at the Okuama Community.

Engr. Muna added that as time passes by, they will also assess the situation to know where and when necessary to bring interventions to ensure that the people of Okuama are resettled in their homeland.

 

Applauding the gesture, the Chairman of the Ewu-Okuama Internally Displaced Persons IDP, Management Committee, Mr Abraham Ogbodo, thanked Olorogun Matthew Edevbie for the huge donation, noting that efforts like this will go a long way in meeting the needs of the Okuama people at the displaced people camp at Ewu -Urhobo.

The Ogbodo, a former Editor of the Guardian Newspaper disclosed that the Okuama crisis is a humanitarian crisis, hence it should not be left to the Delta State Government alone.

He also called on good-spirited Urhobos, Deltans, corporate organisations, and international donors to support current efforts of the state government in the first phase of the program, while more concerted efforts are been made to resettle Okuama people in their ancestral land.

According to him, “what Olorogun Engr Matthew Edevbie has done today is beyond partisan politics. This is not about PDP or APC politics, this is a complete service to humanity and it should be commended and emulated by well-meaning individuals irrespective of political or ethnic persuasion.

 

“Every true son and daughter of Urhobo and anybody that is in the position to assist, such a person should come out to assist and not leave it to the government alone.

“You can assist either by donating your time, your treasures or your talents to ensure that we make this present phase in the Okuama people’s lives to be more liveable, while we focus on more permanent solutions of getting them resettled in their homeland. That also is going to be a collective effort of the government and all of us who believe in humanity,” he added.
