The fleeing frontline agitator for a Yoruba Republic, Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, fondly called Sunday Igboho, has been arrested.
Igboho was arrested by security operatives in Cotonou, Benin Republic, while trying to escape from the country.
The activist who is on the wanted list of the Department of Security Service (DSS) was arrested on Monday night at an airport in Cotonou after fleeing Nigeria.
He was traveling to Germany when he was arrested by security forces of Benin Republic at the airport.
Igboho was arrested in a high intelligence operation by operatives of the West African neighbour in collaboration with Nigeria security police detailed to track him down.

It was gathered he will be brought back to Nigeria on Tuesday (today) where he is expected to face charges ranging from illegal acquisition of fire arms and among others.
“He was arrested in Cotonou while he tried to travel out on Monday night. His destination was Germany. The security forces in Benin Republic should repatriate him to Nigeria on Tuesday,” a source told The PUNCH.
His arrest is coming weeks after DSS declared him wanted after invading his Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021.
No fewer than 12 of his aides were arrested and two killed during the raid which resulted to a gun duel in the agitator’s home.

The Federal Government weekend alerted Nigerian security agencies of plans by Igboho to acquire a new passport to flee the country.
The government said it had placed Igboho on the stop-list in order to facilitate his arrest and directed the security agencies to apprehend him anywhere he is found.
When contacted, a member of Igboho’s legal team, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said he would speak with the lead counsel, Yomi Aliyu (SAN), and revert later.
DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, did not respond to a text message seeking confirmation on the matter.
Afunanya, at a briefing on July 1, 2021, had vowed that “Igboho may run as far as he can. He may hide as long as he wants…But this will be the end of his shenanigans.”
