A Delta State woman, Mrs. Oke Eregarnoma, has narrated how her son, Emma, attempted to pluck out her eyes for ritual purpose.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 14 September, 2021, at Caroline Street, Okuokoko, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
The woman, who spoke to journalists from her hospital bed , said her son persuaded her to visit his house, promising her a surprise package.
She recalled that before the attack, her son boasted that “he must drive GLK this week.
According to her, “On getting there, I saw Emma in an unusual joyous mood, after he welcomed me in. He then increased the volume of his musical gadgets.
“Suddenly, he locked the door and made moves to strangle me and pluck off my eyes.”
Mrs. Eregarnoma stated further that she had to scream for help, but, unfortunately, no one heard her due to the loud music.
She said after fighting with her son for some minutes, she regained her strength and ran outside for help, and neighbours came to her rescue.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Emma Eregarnoma, has since been arrested and detained at the Orerokpe Divisional Police headquarters, in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect is currently in custody.
