A housewife whose identity is yet to be identified has reportedly stabbed her husband, simply identified as Abdulateef, to death with a kitchen knife, to enable her boyfriend escape.
It was gathered that the incident occured on Sunday at Jattu, Etsako West Local Government of Edo State, when the deceased returned home from the house of his first wife who lives elsewhere at about 3am.
The deceased was said to have received news about another man who visits his junior wife whenever he went to see his first wife in her rented apartment.
On that fateful day, the deceased allegedly came home from his first first wife’s apartment, only to meet a man with his younger wife in their bedroom.
A source had it that an argument ensued between the ciuple, which resulted to the wife attacking her husband with a knife and he died almost immediately.
The source added that the deceased got hold of the intruder, but in the process, his wife grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband twice on his stomach, apparently to pave way for her fleeing lover’s escape, and perhaps make it look like robbery attack.
“The man was living with two wives in his house but had to rent an apartment for his first wife in a different location to allow peace to reign while staying with the junior one in his house,” the source said.
The suspect who was said to have been arrested by policemen in the area, was saved from being lynched by the angry mob by the quick arrival of the police.
The spokesman of Edo State police Command, SP. Kotongs Bello, could not confirm the incident, saying that he was yet to be briefed.
