Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, has asked the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, to apologise to President Muhammadu Buhari over his ‘unruly attack on the President.’
Akume, joined by leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, also asked Governor Ortom to stop attacking President Buhari.
The minister is also a former governor of Benue State.
He spoke on Monday at a press conference in Abuja where they also demanded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate and probe the State finance.
Ortom and the Presidency have been in war of words over the frequent herders/farmers’ crisis in the state.
Ortom, among other things, has accused the President Buhari-led administration of backing ravaging herdsmen attacks in the state.
But the Presidency has denied the allegations and accused the Benue governor of causing ethnic crisis in the state.

However, Akume asked the Federal Government to urgently disband the Livestock Guards in Benue State for their alleged involvements in criminal activities in the state.
“We call on Governor Samuel Ortom to tender an unreserved apology to President Muhammadu Buhari, for using foul language and for operating outside the set rules of engagement between the state and the Federal Government.”
“We call on the EFCC and ICPC to thoroughly investigate the application of the total federal allocations to Benue State from May 29, 2015 to date.
“The Federal Government should as a matter of urgency direct the disbandment of the Livestock Guards in Benue State for their involvements in nefarious and criminal activities leading to the breach of peace and massacre of innocent citizens of Benue State,” Akume said.
