Gunmen Kill Warri Community Leader, Bricklayer In Delta

Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed the immediate past chairman of Ugbori community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Prince Godwin Metie. 

It was gathered that the community leader was shot dead at about 9pm on Monday. 

Metie was reportedly attacked at Merogun, a volatile area of Warri, Delta commercial city. 

Our correspondent gathered that the deceased was reportedly waylaid by masks-wearing hoodlums who opened fire on him. 

Sources alleged that the victim gave up the ghost at the scene of the incident.

Similarly, a bricklayer simply identified as Uruese has been reportedly murdered by gunmen suspected to be cultists.

Uruese, also fondly called Iron Monkey, was killed at Orerokpe in Okpe council area of the state last Friday.  

The deceased, who lived around a street close to the council’s secretariat, was shot through the window while sleeping. 

Contacted, the Delta Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said she was unaware of the alleged killing of the former Ugbori community chairman, but confirmed the death of Uruese at Orerokpe.

Speaking on Uruese killing, Onovwakpoyeya,  said “the one that was shot while he was sleeping is true. Investigation is on. The woman (Uruese’s wife) was saying that previously, she noticed marks of caning on the husband and all of those things and she asked. But he didn’t give her any satisfactory response”. 

She, however, promised to provide information on the killing of Metie who was murdered at Merogu area of Warri.
