Global Urhobo Foundation says all is now set for the global unveiling of a 25 year development master plan for Urhobo ethnic nationality of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
The group said the master plan would be unveiled on Thursday, May 1, 2025, to all Urhobo sons and daughters, home and abroad, at a webinar ceremony.
The Global Urhobo Foundation is a thought-leadership and development platform committed to the strategic advancement of the Urhobo Nation through stakeholder engagement, policy influence, capacity building, and global partnerships.
The event, which will be held virtually, is aimed to galvanise local and international efforts toward a sustainable and prosperous future for the Urhobo Nation in the next 25 years.
The event titled “Advancing Economic Growth and Sustainable Development in Urhoboland: Strategies for 2030 and Beyond,” has as its keynote speakers the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District and renowned economist, Senator Ede Dafinone.
Other speakers lined up for the event include a renowned academic, Professor Victor Diejomah; ESG and Sustainability Specialist, Dr. Irene Akpofure; cultural development advocate and Niger Delta Today columnist, Professor Sunny Awhefeada, and renowned public speaker, Dr. Charles Apoki.
The webinar will bring together a distinguished lineup of leaders, scholars, professionals, and diaspora stakeholders to discuss strategic pillars shaping Urhobo’s development trajectory through 2050.
This was contained in a statement issued by Urhobo Foundation’s 25 years Master Plan Development Organising Committee Chairman and Secretary, Prince Randolph Eruma Gborie and Dr. Benson Uwheru, on Wednesday.
Prince Eruma Gborie, who doubled as the convener of Urhobo Foundation, described the event as “a defining moment for the Urhobo Nation”, adding that “The Master Plan is a strategic document and rallying point for visionary development. The webinar is our call to action—to unite, build, and deliver lasting impact for generations to come.”
The statement noted that the webinar would also serve as a launchpad for ongoing engagements with traditional institutions, development partners, policymakers, and the global Urhobo diaspora.
