Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Onome Ojo, has attributed the numerous successes of the party to God’s divine intervention.
Speaking at the 4th annual prayer day of the party held at Oghara, Ojo noted that “God has been faithful to the PDP in Ethiope West and Delta State as a whole by granting all the prayer requests made during the previous prayer days.”
The party chairman recalled that his tenure as a Local Government Chairman of the party began on a tumultuous ground due to the national leadership tussle that factionalized the party between 2016 and 2017, noting that he surmounted the challenges through fervent prayers.
He said: “Apart from the Sheriff-Markafi war at the national level of our party, political awareness also became most pronounced in Delta State and Ethiope West in particular during my tenure. The masses made increasing demand for accountability from politicians and the opposition became much more virile than we used to know it.
“At a point, some people thought the PDP had derailed from its founding ideology and was at the verge of collapse, but we knew there was nothing too difficult for God to do so we decided to dedicate the party to God, first, at the Local Government level”.
He explained that the first prayer day of the party observed on January 20, 2017 centered on three major requests which were the immediate end to the leadership crisis rocking the PDP then, victory in the 2018 local government council elections and a befitting secretariat for the party in Ethiope West.
“To the glory of God, the leadership crisis has ended, PDP won the chairmanship seat and all the 20 councillorship positions in Ethiope West local government council and the party now has a very beautiful edifice as its secretariat”, Ojo declared.
Ojo also attributed the victory of the Delta State PDP in the 2019 general elections to the grace of God, noting that “God has, again, proven that the effectual fervent prayers of the righteous avail much”.
He enjoined all Deltans to embrace peace and continually support the PDP government led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who, he said, is tirelessly working round the clock to deliver true prosperity to all Deltans. He said everyone cannot get government appointment at the same time, hence those in various positions should leverage their offices to help the masses.
Earlier in a homily titled “My help cometh from the Lord”, Rev. Cannon Samuel Udi of St. Matthew Anglican Church, Otefe admonished politicians to lead with the fear of God, urging Deltans to put their hope in God’s unfailing grace.
