Afri-Goal Foundation on Thursday condemned the hike in petrol pump price, lambasting the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government of insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.
The group, however, demanded for an immediate reversal of the hike.
In a statement, the organization posited that Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) should have jettison the idea considering the prevailing hardship among Nigerians who are battling to make ends meet.
“This latest increase should not have been thought of as it is coming at a time when the people are yet to get over the hardship and bite of COVID-19.
“While battling the impact of COVID-19, the government not only increased the electricity tariff but also raised taxes and levies on the informal sector”, the statement added.
Afri-Goal lamented that the hike is a slap on the face of Nigerians who are merely striving to provide for themselves what the government has failed to do.
“Afrigoal demands the government reverses the petrol pump price to its original N130 and also reverses other anti-human taxes and tariffs increase.
“We urge the government to be empathetic with what Nigerians are going through and put a halt to all policies and hikes that will further compound the woes of Nigerians”, it further said.
