Former Delta Senator, Osakwe, Dies In London

A former senator representing Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State at the National Assembly, Chief Patrick Osakwe, is dead.

The former lawmaker died on Tuesday at a London Hospital where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

He was said to have recently left for London for treatment but his health failed to improve before his passage.

The politician had recently received consultation from some governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi.

Osakwe, 73, is one of the key political figures to have hailed from the Ndokwa Nation of Delta State.

He was senator representing Delta North between 1999 and 2007 on the PDP platform.

The deceased was succeeded at the Senate by the current governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who represented the area.

One of his political sons and Special Assistant (Media) to Governor Okowa, Success Ovie Ossai, also confirmed the demise of the late lawmaker.
