A founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Essien Okiemute, has resigned membership of the party over alleged neglect by the leadership of the APC.

Okiemute, who represented Isoko South Constituency 1 at the Delta State House of Assembly from 2011-2015 on the platform Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), announced his resignation from the APC in a letter addressed to his Irri Ward 11 chairman of Isoko South local government area.

He accused the leadership of the party in the state of abandoning founding leaders of the party in the state for dumping the APC.

Okiemute also further accused the party of not rewarding him despite his personal and financial efforts in building the party in Isoko Nation.

“Hon. (Dr.) Benjamin Essen Okiemute a founding member of All Progressive Congress (APC) Delta State Chapter of Isoko Nation do hereby resign my membership form the All Progressive Congress (APC) as a Financial Member from the party with effect from 8th day of July, 2024.

“This development came in as a result of inability of the Party to carry most of his founding members along in their Day to Day activities from the National to State and word Level as their reward system is not measurable with my personal effort in building the party to its present position in Isoko Nation”, Okiemute stated in his resignation letter.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the former lawmaker was set to join the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Tuesday at his Irri ward in Isoko South.

Sources told our correspondent that the former APC chieftain would be received into the PDP by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other leaders of the party during the mega rally of the PDP billed for Wednesday in Asaba.
