Flood: Urhobo Social Club Donates Relief Materials To Delta Communities

A pan Urhobo socio-cultural body, Urhobo Social Club, Lagos, has donated relief materials to some communities ravaged by flood in Urhobo Kingdoms of Delta State to help alleviate the suffering of flood victims.

Some of the Urhobo Kingdoms and communities where relief materials were donated by the influential Urhobo group include; Olomu, Ewhu, Evwreni, Uwheru and Ughievwen.

The club members also made cash donations to some of these communities.

The club delegation led by its President, Olorogun Jacob Diedjomahor was accompanied by the Vice President, Olorogun Patrick Emurese and the immediate past President of USCL, Olorogun Edoreh Agbah.

President of Urhobo Social Club, Lagos, Olorogun Diedjomahor lamented the level of devastation caused by the ravaging flood across the Niger Delta region especially in Urhoboland.

Diedjomahor, while commiserating with the flood victims, called on government at all levels to match words with action by assisting the victims who have lost their properties and means of livelihood return to normal life.

He also called on the Federal Government to design a deliberate master plan capable of tackling the issue of perennial flooding in the country, particularly states situated along river Benue and Niger.

The USCL boss commended Urhobo Traditional Rulers and donors for supporting efforts of government at all levels to support the flood victims who are now residing in various Internally Displaced Persons camps in the Niger Delta region.

Apart from the presentation of the relief items, the USCL delegation also paid courtesy calls on the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, HRM Ovie Richard Layeguen Ogbon Oghoro 1, HRM Mathew Egbi, Owhawha 1, Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, HRM Oghenekevwe Owin Kumane Eruvwedede III, Ovie of Evwreni Kingdom as well as representatives of Ewhu and Uwheru Kingdoms.

All the royal fathers prayed for the delegation and the club, while all the kingdoms expressed their appreciation to the club for the solidarity with their people back home at their trying times.
