The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, says President Muhammadu Buhari has given approval for the Special Public Works Programme to kick off nationwide on Tuesday.
774,000 unemployed Nigerians have been enrolled into the programme as beneficiaries.
Each of the 774,000 beneficiaries are expected to earn N20,000 monthly for three months duration of the job.
The Federal Government has amounted about N46.44 billion for the scheme.
The beneficiaries will be engaged in public social services including cleaning of environment and market places.

This is coming despite suspension of the scheme by federal lawmakers who seem unhappy with the manner minister Keyamo handled the recruitment process.
Following the disagreement between Keyamo and the lawmakers, the commencement of the programme had been severally suspended.
But Keyamo in a tweet on his verified twitter handle on Sunday said President Buhari has given his nod for the commencement of the programme.
The minister said, “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the take off of the Special Public Works Programme (engaging 774,000 unemployed itinerant Nigerians) to begin nationwide on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021.
“All NDE state structures are already in top gear for the take-off ceremonies.”
