The lifeless body of a female real estate agent, identified as Esther Osaze, was found on Wednesday in Ibusa community of the Oshimili North Local Government Area in Delta State.
Esther, who was abducted on Monday, had been inspecting a property site when gunmen attacked.
Esther, along with three colleagues, was returning from a land inspection near the Nigerian Admiralty University in Ibusa when they were ambushed by armed men. While the other individuals managed to escape, Esther was seized by the kidnappers and taken away.
A source within the community revealed that the body of the 23-year-old realtor was discovered on Tuesday evening, two days after the abduction.
The source said, “The kidnappers killed the lady. Her body was found on Tuesday evening. The gunmen shot at their vehicle, and while the others managed to flee, she was taken away. Her body was later found in a remote area.”
Esther’s body was found blindfolded and with visible signs of abuse, raising suspicions that she had been tortured before her death.
Friends and family were devastated by the news, with one close family friend sharing their grief with our correspondent.
“Esther was a bright, young woman who had just completed her NYSC last year and had begun her career in real estate. She had hoped to build a future in the industry after not being able to secure a job in banking or other sectors,” they lamented.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed the tragic incident.
State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Bright Edafe, stated, “Yes, the lady was killed, and her body was found on the road. The police have deposited her body at the morgue.”
Esther’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the community, as residents grapple with the increasing insecurity in the area.
