Fatal Accident Claims Four Lives, Others Seriously Injured

Four persons on Monday died while four others sustained varying degrees of injury in multiple fatal crashes in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The accident, which occurred around 11.30 am near a slaughterhouse in the area, involved a red 911 M/Benz, a Toyota Camry car, and a white Toyota Hiace bus.

Eyewitnesses attributed the crash to break failure.

Confirming the incident, Acting Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Mr. Kamal Musa said the corpses were deposited at the morgue after being confirmed dead by Medical Doctors.

He said: “A multiple fatal crashes as a result of break failure and loss of control involving a red 911 M/Benz with registration number JJT 168 XG, a Toyota Camry car with registration number FST 122 DQ and a white Toyota Hiace bus belonging to Izuchukwu Motors with registration number ABN 430 YN was recorded at Obosi slaughter near Obosi Police Division along Onitsha- Owerri Road.

“A total of Thirteen (13) people (8) Male adults and (5) female adults were involved in the Crash.

“Two (2) Male adults and (2) female adults who sustained varying degrees of injury were rushed to Unit Hospital Obosi, by FRSC rescue team from Oraifite Unit Command and Corpses deposited at the Mogue after they were confirmed dead by the Medical Doctors in the hospital. The road obstruction is being cleared to ensure the free flow of traffic.

“The Sector Commander, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi prayed for God to grant the deceased families the fortitude to bear the irrevocable loss and the injured victims quick recovery.

“He admonishes motorists to embark on regular maintenance of vehicles and ensure their vehicles meet the minimum safety standards before putting it on the road to avoid undue crashes on the roads.”
