The new COVID-19 case in Delta State is dead, NIGER DELTA TODAY Online can exclusively report.
The patient, our correspondent gathered, died before the result of his sample was released on Tuesday.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday confirmed a new case of Coronavirus in the state bringing the total number of cases to seven.
It was gathered that deceased who presented himself at the isolation centre in Warri Central Hospital was asked to go home after NCDC officials collected his sample against the rules.
It was learnt that upon receipt of the result, the State Taskforce on COVID-19 contacted the family of the deceased and they were told the patient had died.
It was gathered that the patient died on Saturday April 25, 2020 at his residence around Ovwian in Udu Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased patient was said to be in his early 50s.
Meanwhile, the State Government has finally confirmed the death of the victim after NIGER DELTA TODAY Online broke the news on Wednesday morning.
His death brings to two the number of fatality the state has recorded since the outbreak of the virus.
