Idjerhe, one of the 24 Urhobo Kingdoms in Niger Delta region of Nigeria, have slated Friday October 22 through Sunday October 24, 2021 to celebrate the one year coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty King Obukohwo Monday Arthur Whiskey (JP), “ Udurhie 1”.
The Avwebo r’Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, Okakuro Onosia James Obriki, disclosed this on Wednesday while announcing programme of activities lined up for the coronation anniversary, at a press conference held at the Palace in Jesse, Ethiope West Council Area of Delta State.
The celebrations, billed to attract people from all walks of life within and beyond Nigerian, would be graced by first-class traditional rulers from across the country.
Obriki who is the Chairman of the coronation anniversary publicity committee, stated that the programme will go ahead as put together by the planning committee
He described those peddling unfounded rumors on the purported judgement as making “careless statements”, adding that the Monarch has not been removed by any court.
“Coming to the issues of people making careless statements about the court ruling of 14th October 2021, I want to say that our King has not been removed as the king of Idjerhe Kingdom.
“The King is in his palace and has been receiving visitors and indigenes of the Kingdom trooping in and out of the palace. The Court ruling recently does not in any way stop the coronation anniversary celebration from taking place.
“Like I always say, the ship must sail and reach its destination without problems,” said.
He assured the people of Idjerhe Kingdom and outside that there’s no problem whatsoever with the kingship in Idjerhe Kingdom, adding that “everything is in order.”
While congratulating the Monarch, Obriki noted that the enthronement of the Udurhe as the traditional head of Idjerhe Kingdom has brought enormous blessings to the people and a new sense of direction is propelling the Kingdom to greater heights.
He said: “First let me congratulate His Royal Majesty, King Obukohwo Monday Arthur Whiskey “Udurhie 1” on his one year coronation anniversary on ascending the throne of his forefathers.
“Within one year of his Royal Majesty sitting on the throne of his forefathers, he has fought against notable challenges, among which are senseless acts of crime, cultism and cyber crime. He has among other things re-positioned our great Kingdom to be known among oil producing communities in Nigeria.
“I salute his Royal Majesty for his courageous and visionary leadership which has provided huge impetus for the sons, daughters and friends of Idjerhe Kingdom to continue doing their various legitimate business peacefully in our communities.
“Let me inform everyone that the preparations for the celebration of the coronation anniversary the is in top gear. There are line up of activities, some of which are already ongoing. There is a football competition presently in place to mark the coronation anniversary celebration.”
