About 500 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sapele Council Area of Delta State including a former commissioner in the state, Chief Abraham Bobo, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Other PDP leaders who dumped the party for the ruling APC at the centre included High Chief W. Ayomanor, Chief Onoriode Temiagi, Dr Joseph Ogodo, Mr Anthony Ayomanor, Sunday Umukoro, Chief Onomor and their supporters.
The decampees officially joined the APC on Saturday at a defection ceremony held inside the Sapele APC Secretariat along New Road in Sapele.

WARRI TODAY learnt that their defection was not unconnected with internal crisis rocking the Sapele chapter of the PDP over some political appointments by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the state leadership of PDP.
They were received by the Deputy State Chairman of the APC, Engr. Elvis Ayomanor and other leaders of the party on behalf of the Delta State APC chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, who has been nominated as commissioner on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Leader of the decampees and former commissioner in the state, Chief Bobo said they decided to join the APC to support the developmental efforts of President Buhari and rescue the state from the grip of PDP.
They also commended the leadership qualities of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, vowing to work with him to ensure that Delta State becomes an APC state soon.
The decampees promised to work for the victory of the APC in future elections in the state.

While receiving the decampees, the Delta APC Deputy Chairman, Engr. Ayomanor said the party would take over Government House Asaba, saying that the party remains the only platform to liberate the people of Delta State from the alleged under performance by the PDP-led government.
Ayomanor said with the caliber of persons in the party, APC would stop at nothing at ensuring that APC becomes the ruling party in the state soon.
He said APC doors are open to receive any PDP convert who had realised that the opposition PDP has no future for the development of the country.
Other at the defection ceremony was Comrade Dann DiDi Eboh, Comrade Peters Ohwofasa Mukoro, Comrade. Lucky Ohwojerho and others including ward chairmen of the party in Sapele LGA.
