A former commissioner for Water Resources under the administration of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Dr Chris Oghenechovwen has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Oghenechovwen, who is the immediate past chairman Governing Board of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), announced his resignation of the PDP in a letter dated Friday February 7, 2020

In the letter addressed to the State chairman of the PDP, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, the former member representing Ughelli South, Ughelli North and Udu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives said his decision was personal.

According to him, “I write to formally inform you of my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, as a founding member. I have remained loyal and committed to the cause of the party these past 20years.

“The decision to resign my membership is personal and takes immediate effect.”

NIGER DELTA TODAY online investigation, however, revealed that Oghenechovwen threw in the towel over alleged disagreement in the disagreement that trailed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s political appointments in Ughelli South LGA where he hailed from.

Oghenechovwen, an ally of former Governor Uduaghan, is being rumoured to be concluding plans to join the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state in a later date.

Efforts to reach him on phone at the time of filing this report on the development proved abortive.

According to the former Lawmaker, the decision to leave the party which he was a founding member is personal and that the resignation takes immediate effect.

He however wish the party and its members well while assuring them of his highest regards.

Dr Chris was a member of the Federal House of Representatives from (2003-2007). He was also State Director of Protocols(SDOP) to former Governor Uduaghan before he was later appointed as Commissioner for Water Resources in the same government of Dr Uduaghan.
