Several protesters have been arrested by police operatives at the Lekki toll gate where the #EndSars Memorial Protest is being staged.
Some of those arrested were caught with a knife and a cutlass, and another who claimed to be a journalist.
One other was claded in a white robe bearing a #EndSars banner.
A Benin City-based human rights activist, Patriot Patrick Osagie Eholor, who is President of One Love Foundation, was among those arrested.
Eholor, in a video could be seen claded in a green tracksuit, as he was being dragged by anti-riot police officers to a waiting Black Maria van.
He alleged that his phones and money were taken by the police operatives.
“I am a Canadian citizen! We have come here to help the police, to promote the police, to discuss the welfare of the police, but they are turning around to arrest us,” he stated as the van drove off.
At some point, canisters if tear gas were fired by the police operatives to forcefully dispatch the protesters.
Scores of police officers are strategically positioned at the toll gate with over 20 trucks to enforce a ban on the #EndSars memorial protests by the Lagos Police Command. Police vehicles are also on patrol at the plaza.
