A former youth chairman of oil-rich Ugborodo community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Ofe Nene, has described as baseless and malicious a media report against the General Manager Operations (GMO) Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), Mr. Andrew Omomehin.
Ofe noted that the relationship between Chevron and her host communities significantly improved and has become more cordial since Omomehin assumed the role of General Manager Operations (GMO).
The Ugborodo youth leader stated this in a statement on Saturday while reacting to a report accusing Omomehin of delaying the release of employment letters for Chevron’s VTP 5/6 and OTP 2 beneficiaries.
Ofe, while reacting to the allegation, noted that the report was not only false but was sponsored to discredit the good relations between Chevron, GMO, and their host communities.
While condemning the attack, Ofe stressed that those behind the allegations were not only enemies of Ugborodo and Itsekiri people but also orchestrated to destabilise the relative peace among the host communities.
“Suffice to say that the write-up by a faceless Itsekiri reporter, where it alleged and used derogatory words against the person of Engr. Andrew Omomoehin, the General Manager Operations (GMO) Chevron Nigeria Limited, is highly condemnable.
“The allegation is not only the imagination of the writers but also a wicked attempt to destroy the good name and reputation of this very gentleman. He is free from all forms of wrongdoing as far as recruitment/employment is concerned in the Chevron/NNCPL Joint Venture.
“As the immediate past chairman of the Ugborodo youth body, I condemn this evil orchestration by a few enemies of Ugborodo in its entirety. Our relationship with Chevron is very cordial under the leadership of Engr. Andrew Omomoehin as GMO, and he is a quintessential personality”, the statement added.
Ofe, however, urged members of the public, particularly Ugborodo people, to disregard any attempt by some serving-interest groups who are bent on causing crises where there is absolute peace.
