A renowned Nigerian banker and former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has been honoured with the traditional title of “Enyi Oma” (Best Friend) by the people of Ugwueke ancient kingdom in Abia State.
Emerhor, a holder of the prestigious Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), was honoured by the community for his contribution to the development of the ancient kingdom.
The Distinguished Honorary Citizenship Award was conferred on Emerhor who was represented by the former Delta APC chairman, Chief Cyril Ogodo at an event which had the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Election and the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi and current Deputy Governor of Abia State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu.
Addressing the gathering, the President-General of Ugwueke Development Union (UDU), Mr Isaac Mba Okorie explained that Emerhor was given conferred with the traditional title of Enyi Oma of Ugwueke for his contribution towards the construction of 12 Kilometers Alayi-Ugwueke-Akaeze Road by Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Okorie said the people of the area are elated by the development thus the decision to honour the business mogul and national caucus member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Responding, Olorogun Emerhor dedicated the traditional title to President Muhammadu Buhari and thanked the people and Ugwueke Traditional Council for honouring him with the award.
Emerhor, represented by Chief Ogodo, said the recognition will spur him to do more for the development of society and support the President Buhari-led government to deliver on its agenda for Nigerians.
According to him, he will continue to support the Buhari-led APC government in its quest to give Nigeria the development leap, in order to take the nation to the next level.
Other dignitaries including Sir Johnson Chukwu, who attracted the roads construction, was also honoured with the traditional title of “Omeziri Obodo” of Ugwueke Kingdom.
The ceremony which was attended by the Deputy Governor of Abia State; Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, former governor of Anambra State; Mr Peter Obi, Abia State SSG, Senators, House of Representative member and Members of Abia State House of Assembly, amongst others.
In the entourage of Olorogun Emerhor, were Prince Edewor Akpedafe, Engr. Mike Pemu, Aghogho Abraham Orotomah, and Sunny Onos amongst others.
