According to Afe, the bill seeks to amend the PTI Act, Cap. P16, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004; and for Related Matters.

He explained that the amendment will help the Act establishing PTI to conform with the Petroleum Industry Act recently assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The motion being seconded by Hon. Ganiyu Johnson, noted that aspects of the Act establishing the institute are obsolete and it is necessary to be amended.

He also stated that the application of the Petroleum Industry Act just passed will benefit from the amendment.
