Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arrested the immediate past governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
Okorocha was reportedly picked up after a heated disagreement at his Abuja residence.
Although the reasons for the arrest of the Senator representing Imo West had not been disclosed but his successor, Governor Hope Uzodinma, had accused him of allegedly embezzling state resources as governor.
The face-off between Okorocha and Uzodinma led to the sealing of some property linked to his wife.
The lawmaker’s arrest becomes the first major arrest by the anti-graft agency under the leadership of Abdulrasheed Bawa-led EFCC.
