Edwin Clark: Mulade Mourns, Calls For Immortalisation Of Niger Delta Leader

Niger Delta environmental rights advocate, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, has mourned the passage of elder statesman and convener of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, described him as a “fountain of knowledge”.

 

Mulade, while noting that Clark’s demise was a big blow to Nigeria, particularly the people of the Niger Delta, said the late co-founder of South and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) made huge contributions to deepening good governance and democracy in Nigeria.

 

The Gbaramatu chief said Chief Clark was also a voice for truth, the oppressed, and a fearless advocate for development in the Niger Delta region.

 

Clark, a former senator and lawyer, passed on in Abuja on Monday at 97 years.

 

In a statement, Mulade, who is the Ibe-Serimowei of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Area of Delta State, called for the immortalisation of the elder statesman for his contributions to the development of the country.

Chief Mulade said, “Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark made remarkable contributions to the nation, particularly in the Niger Delta Region. Our father’s legacy cannot be forgotten soon. He lived a fulfilled life before passing at 97 years.

 

“I enjoin the Federal Government and Niger Delta states, especially Delta State, to immortalise our national leader and icon. He was a fountain of knowledge and beacon of hope for oppressed Nigerians. He will be sorely missed by all for his brave and courage positions on issues.”

 

He commiserated with the Clark’s family of Kiagbodo and the people of Delta State while praying God to grant his soul eternal rest.
