The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for the first time in Nigeria’s election history, has transmitted 98.5 per cent of the results of the Edo State governorship election within 12 hours after the exercise was conducted across the state.
From the details available on the electoral umpire’s portal, the commission has uploaded 98.5 per cent of results on the Result Viewing Portal (IREV)
According to findings on the IREV portal, a total of 4,455 polling units results out of the 4,519 from 18 local government areas of the state have been uploaded on its website.

The governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), Asue Ighodalo and Senator Monday Okpebholo are in tight race going by the results so far uploaded on the IREV.
However, the Labour Party governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, is trailing from a distant third going by the results so far released by INEC on its portal.
INEC said it will begin official announcement of results from the 18 local government areas of the state by 11am.
But supporters of the APC and PDP have been celebrating their victories in various parts of the state as both parties lay claim to winning the election.
