Edo Police Arrests, Reveals Identities Of Two Cops Fighting In Viral Video

The two police operatives seen in a viral video engaging in a physical combat on social media have been arrested by the Edo State Police Command.

Their arrest followed pressure from social media users who demanded that the personnel involved in the shameful action should be sanction by the police authorities.

The policemen who are attached to Ebelle Divisional headquarters, Igueben local government area of the state, were said to have been detailed to an accident scene, where they engaged each other in a fierce physical combat.

The command spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, in a post on its WhatsApp page, Edo Police Press Forum, gave the names of the operatives as Corporal Ozimende Aidonojie and Constable Salubi Stephen.

“In response to the above video that is currently trending on the social media network, the information gathered from DPO Ebelle divisional headquarters, indicates that there was an accident involving one Blue Toyota Corola car Reg. No. ABJ 369 EG and one unregistered Deylong motorcycle at Ebele town.

Immediately, F/No.491112 CPL Ozimende Aidonojie and F/No.516384 PC Salubi Stephen were detailed to go to accident scene to do the needful.

“Unfortunately, when they got there, they engaged themselves in a physical combat and brought about the embarrassing video.

“The DPO has since yesterday detained the two (2) rank and file in the cell at Ebelle, though without recourse to the CP. 

“However the CP has ordered him to come down to State Headquarters with the erring rank and file,” Nwabuzor explained.
