The crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly may be far from being over as the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended indefinitely the member-elect representing Ovia North East Constituency ll , Vincent Uwadia.
This is just as the members of the party from the area have asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to initiate recall process on the embattled member-elect for failing to turn himself in for swearing in for legislative duties.
Uwadia, who won the seat on the platform of the APC in the March 9, 2019 Governorship and state House of Assemblies elections in Ovia North East Constituency ll, is among the lawmakers-elect who stayed away from sitting since its inauguration on June 17 over alleged procedural breach.

Leaders of the APC Ovia North East said the suspension of the member-elect became necessary for allegedly “flouting party rules, decisions, engaging in dishonest practices and absent from meetings to which he was invited without reasonable cause.”
They lamented that the embattled member-elect’s refusal to present himself for swearing in at the State House of Assembly has robbed the people of the constituency the quality representation the people of the area have been yearning for.
According to the resolutions endorsed by Jester Edoseghe, chairman of APC, Okada East ward 2 and 25 other exco members, the party members said Uwadia ignored the right to fair hearing when he was invited for a general meeting on October 13, 2019.
The resolution posited that their demand for his recall is in accordance with the 1999 Nigerian Constitution as amended.

It stated, “There is now an urgent need to ensure adequate representation for all seven wards of of Ovia North East Constituency 2 to ensure equitable development along with others.”
The punitive measure was part of the resolutions reached by the executive members of APC in his constituency dated October 30th 2019 and addressed to the State Chairman of the party, Mr. Anslem Ojezua.
According to the resolutions, “Whereas, during the said meeting, the Honourable Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Monday Osaigbovo was mandated call Mr. Vincent Uwadia on phone to remind him of the meeting, but he refused to honour the invitation.
“His refusal is an expression of intolerance that are contradictory to the values that define the people of Ovia North east local government and Okada East in particular.”
Efforts to reach Uwadia, the suspended member-elect, for his reaction proved abortive as his telephone line was said to be switched off even at the time of filing this report.
