At least two supporters of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, have been seriously injured as hoodlums suspected to be political thugs invaded a meeting of a group loyal to the former Edo State governor.
It was learnt that members of the Edo People’s Movement (EPM), a group sympathetic to Oshiomhole, were meeting at Ivbiaro, in Owan East local government area of the state when the political thugs broke into the venue.
Two persons, including the coordinator of the group in the local government area, Carlis Imorole and a 90-year-old retired Chief Superintendent of Police, Roland Edeki, were injured in the fracas.
No fewer than five vehicles also belonging to members of the groups were destroyed while scores of plastic chairs were also damaged by the hoodlums.

It was said the attack immediately brought the meeting of the group to a halt as members of the group scampered for safety during the melee which led to serious tension in the area.
The incident happened on Sunday.
A former commissioner in the state under the administration of Oshiomhole, Abdul Oroh confirmed the attack on members of the group.
Oroh disclosed that the group obtained permission from State Police Command before embarking on the meeting.
He, however, said that after granting the permission, the command called to inform them that the state government has called for cancelation of the meeting.
“We took permission from the state police command, but few hours after the permission was granted, we received calls from the command that the permit has been cancelled.

“When we asked for the reasons, the command said the directive was from the state government. The same command however advised us to hold the meeting in a private place.
“Initially, the meeting was scheduled to hold in Afuze, but based on the command’s advise, it was relocated to Ivbiaro,” he said.
But when contacted, the state police command spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, denied knowledge of the attack on members of the group.
