A leading governorship aspirant in the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Edo State, Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, has urged the acting APC State Chairman, Khalifa Jarret Tenebe, to reposition and restructure the Party ahead of the forthcoming governorship poll.
Agbomhere, immediate past South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary of the APC, called on the leaders of the party in the state to close ranks and support the governorship candidate of APC in Edo, Senator Monday Okpebholo ahead of the contest.
The APC chieftain made the statement in Abuja while responding to questions from newsmen after a stakeholders meeting.
According to Agbomhere, the chairmanship position given to Khalifa Jarret Tenebe is nothing compared to his personal sacrifices for the growth and development of the party in the state.
He also posited that Khalifa Tenebe was one of few political leaders that brought a former Governor of Edo State, Mr. Lucky Igbinedion and Professor Osariemen Osunbor as Governor of the State in power.
The former National President of Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) said he is also aware how Khalifa Jarret Tenebe has worked with all the political actors in Edo State at various times to succeed, and this has earned him the nickname ‘The Man Behind’
“Once he stands with anybody politically, that person must succeed. The acting State Chairman has practically cut his teeth in the politics of Edo State.
“The manner with which Khalifa Tenebe hosted the primaries and managed the fallouts is a testimony of his political sagacity”, Agbomhere added.
He also added that when Governor Godwin Obaseki was purportedly terrorising APC members in the State, Mr. Jarret Tenebe came to the rescue of the party as the then Deputy State Chairman of the APC.
According to the former South South Zonal Organizing Secretary of the party, the acting State Chairman now has the duty to reposition and restructure the Party for posterity sake to enable the APC win the forthcoming governorship election.
He said it would be a mark of honour to see that Khalifa Tenebe was the one that helped the party to return Edo State back to APC and that he is ready to give the State Chairman all the necessary support and cooperation to succeed in his new assignment.
While calling for support for the Edo APC governorship candidate, Senator Okpebholo, Agbomhere vowed to mobilize support and ensure that the party reclaim Edo from the ruling PDP in the state through the forthcoming elections.
He, however, predicted that APC will win the governorship election in a landslide come September, stressing that Okpebholo has the capacity to lead and reposition the state for greatness.
