A former senator representing Kogi West and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dino Melaye, says Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, is in good condition after alleged reports that over 300 policemen had laid siege in his hotel in Benin.
Melaye, who claimed he was with the Rivers governor, said there was no cause of alarm.
There had been viral reports that security operatives believed to be policemen reportedly stormed the hotel where Wike was lodged, demanding that he leaves the state on Friday.
The much anticipated governorship election in Edo State holds tomorrow Saturday September 19 with over 1.7million voters are expected to cast their votes.
Incumbent Edo governor and candidate of the PDP, Godwin Obaseki, and Pastor Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are the major contenders in the election.
But Senator Melaye in a tweet on Friday in his officials Twitter handle said Wike was in perfect condition following the reported siege in hotel.
The former lawmaker tweeted, “I’m with our National Governor. Gov.Wike, he is in perfect condition and no Shaking. We shall overcome God willing. SDM.”
