Easter: Bashorun Askia Urges Christians To Emulate Christ’s Virtues, Rededicate Lives To God


A former Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Bashorun Askia Ogieh, has felicitated with Christians on the occasion of year’s Easter celebrations.

Bashorun Askia urged Christians to use period of the solemn celebrations to rededicate their lives to the service of God as well as imbibe the virtues which Jesus Christ exhibited while on earth.

In an Easter message on Friday, Askia also called on Christians to pray for the country as Nigeria heads into the 2023 general elections.

The former Isoko South Council chairman disclosed that he was running for Isoko Federal Constituency seat into the House of Representatives in next year’s election to offer quality representation to the people of Isoko Nation.

According to him, “This year’s celebration has a special significance, coming just ahead of the 2023 General Elections that will define the extent our dear country will go in returning to the path of restoration.”

He also urged Christians to use the celebrations of Christ’s death and resurrection to reconcile themselves with God.

“Our dear country has been the victim of a rudderless leadership. However, we are not powerless. In us lies the capacity and road map to bringing Nigeria back onto the right path. In this season God used to reconcile us to himself, we are offered an opportunity to smoothen the path to reconciliation with the Most High.

“As we celebrate the true significance of Easter, I urge you all to rededicate yourselves to Him that holds unquestionable sovereignty over the affairs of man by invoking His power over our country’s affairs. It is time to exercise the powers given to us by the Almighty to chart a new course of prosperity and fulfillment for our country.

“By the grace of the Almighty, I am offering myself to be part of the task of rebuilding Nigeria by seeking your vote into the House of Representatives through the Isoko Federal Constituency. Together, we can build a new and great Nigeria.

“I pray that in this Easter season, our Lord will harken to our supplication and lead our nation back to the path of sustainable development by enthroning a leadership that is empathetic to the deprivations of the people.

“May the resurrected Christ rekindle our spirit of unity and fairness and to lead us back to the path of uplifting by conscientiously choosing the leadership that will bring us to the right path”, Askia added.
