A commissioner on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Joyce Overah, is dead.
Overah, who was representing Sapele, Okpe and Ethiope West Local Government Areas on the DESOPADEC board, died on Tuesday afternoon in Sapele.
The deceased was said to have been briefly ill.
Several sources close to the late Overah confirmed the development to NIGER DELTA TODAY Online.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Sapele Council area of the state, Hon.(Chief) Eugene Inoaghan, confirmed the passage of the former House Representatives member who represented Sapele, Okpe and Uvwie Federal Constituency.
Inoaghan, who expressed shock at the demise of the deceased, said Overah was one of the finest politicians in the council.
A statement signed by Inoaghan’s Chief Press Secretary, Malcolm Tagbarha, commiserated with the family of Overah over the passage.
Inoaghan said that Overah’s loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), would continue to resonate in the way he mobilised for the success of the party, at different elections, in the Local Government Area.
“The former Legislator and Commissioner, would always be remembered for his exceptionally calm disposition and excellent ways in communicating wisdom in simple ways.
“Sapele residents, most especially the political class will greatly miss him.”
He prayed that the Almighty God would grant the soul of the departed eternal rest, and comfort his family.
