The Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Solomon Golley, has given a 24hours ultimatum to Mr. Augus Omasoro to de-rope himself as the new Ovie (king) of Idjerhe Kingdom.

He said government would take drastic sanction against him if he failed to denounce himself within stated time.

Some chiefs from the kingdom had allegedly crowned Omasoro on Saturday night as successor to His Royal Majesty, Edward Igho Otadaferua, Erhiekevwe 1, who joined his ancestors in 2018.

But the regent of Idjerhe Kingdom, High Chief Gabriel Agoda Emeje, on Monday debunked the emergence of a new king in the kingdom.

However, at a meeting of Ovie-In-Council with the council chairman on Wednesday, Golley directed Omasoro to immediately stop parading himself as a traditional ruler.

The council chairman also directed Omasoro to derope himself of all traditional regalia with immediate effect.

He said the emergence of the self-styled monarch failed to follow legal and traditional procedures for selecting and crowning a monarch in the kingdom.
