The Special Adviser to Delta State Governor on Project Monitoring, Engr. Goodnews Agbi, has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his victory at the Delta Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal which affirmed his election.
Agbi described the judgement as a reaffirmation of the overwhelming support that Governor Oborevwori enjoys from the people of the oil-rich state through their votes in the March 18th governorship election.
The three-member tribunal panel headed by Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu, on Friday dismissed the petitions filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; Social Democratic Party candidate, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi and Labour Party’s Chief Ken Pela challenging the victory of Oborevwori, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Tribunal held that the petitioners failed to proved their allegations of electoral malpractice and other issues raised in their petitions
However, Agbi, a ranking traditional chief of Isoko Nation, commended the tribunal for upholding the wishes of Delta people and the election of Governor Oborevwori during the last governorship election.
In a statement issued in Asaba on Friday, he called on the petitioners including Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to join forces with Governor Oborevwori in his M.O.R.E Agenda of better development to Deltans.
Dr. Agbi, while hailing the judgement, described it as “a welcome development and confirmation of the mandate Deltans freely gave to the working governor of Delta State Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori,”
He further added that Governor Oborevwori has started well as a governor and should be encouraged to ensure that Deltans enjoy human and infrastructural capital development.
