DELTA: Tension in Effurun as policemen chase suspected car snatchers

There was apprehension on Tuesday afternoon in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State as policemen chase after a Lexus 330 being driven by unidentified persons suspected to be car snatchers.

The incident, WARRI TODAY gathered caused some stare and palpable tension as residents and motorists along the Uti road in Effurun as residents scampered for safety following the sporadic shootings that greeted the incident.

It was learnt that the incident took place at about 3pm.

Sources told our correspondent that the policemen in a in a navy blue sienna and silver colour Lexus 330 drove in “James Bond” style in a manner only common to American movies.

One of the vehicles nearly collides with a Keke Napep carry bags of sand, a source who witnessed the incident said.

Just when residents were trying to understand what could be going on, the Lexus vehicle, which bumper was almost off sped past the DSC Expressway towards the popular Otokutu Bridge, with the police vehicle in hot pursuit.

WARRI TODAY‘s correspondent who witnessed the drama, saw the Lexus cruse through the Otokutu Bridge, while the Sienna was held back by traffic at the ever busy Ugbolokposo Junction along the expressway.

It was learnt that the suspected car snatchers escaped arrest.
