The Delta State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has hailed the election of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as the governor-elect of Delta.
Oborevwori, who is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled a total of 360,234 votes to emerged winner of the Saturday March 18 governorship election.
SWAN in statement on Thursday signed by its Interim Committee chairman and Secretary, Comrades Anastacia Eluwa and Henry Unini, described Oborevwori’s victory at the poll as a well-deserved one.
The Union, while noting that the victory is for all Deltans, assured the governor-elect of a cordial working relation as governor.
“On behalf of the leadership and members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Delta State chapter, we congratulate you on your emergence as the Governor-elect of Delta State in the just concluded gubernatorial polls held on Saturday, 18th March, 2023, under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“Your victory is a victory for all Deltans, irrespective of political affiliations, as the hand of God is truly on Delta State. There is no doubt that your resounding victory is well deserved as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“Delta State SWAN wishes you God’s wisdom on your leadership, strength, direction, and guidance to deliver on your mandate to the good people of Delta State. We look forward to working with your administration, not only in terms of closer working relationship but also in contributing to sports development and publicity in the state”, the statement added.
