The President-General of Ovwian Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Alfred Urhukpe, is dead.
Urhukpe reportedly passed on at about 6:30pm on Wednesday.
The deceased was sworn-in as the President-General on the 2nd of January 2021 after a keenly contested election.
Urhukpe was alleged to have collapsed in his home and was reportedly rushed to hospital where he gave up the ghost on Wednesday evening.
The father of four was said to have been treating malaria before his deteriorated.
He had days ago lamented the increasing cases of cult related clashes in the community where he also called on the Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to address the situation.
The death of the PG has thrown the community into mourning.
Ovwian is one of the biggest towns in Udu, an Urhobo kingdom in Delta.
It shares boundary with the oil city of Warri and host to the multi-billion-naira Delta Steel Company (DSC) now known as Premium Steel Limited.
