Delta Poly Graduate, One Other Killed During Cult Clashes In Asaba

A Mass Communication graduate simply identified as Oboh and one other person have been reportedly killed during cult clashes at Umuagu quarters in Asaba, Delta State capital.

Oboh, a graduate of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, was said to have been shot dead while watching match at a drinking bar by suspected cultists.

It was gathered that the deceased was killed in what locals believed to be reprisal attack in the late hours of Thursday at a bar near UBA Bank, Asaba.

The suspected assassins reportedly shot him four times and dragged his lifeless body outside the drinking bar.

A source told our correspondent that, “Oboh came to watch football in the bar and he was drinking around 10:00pm when three armed men came into bar and shot him.

“The gunmen put off the generating set and told everyone to remain calm that they came for him (Oboh) alone. They shot him four times and dragged him outside the bar.”

Similarly, another young man was also shot dead in another reprisal attack a neighboring Isierke quarters in the early hours of Friday in the state capital.

The Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident, said the killings were as a result of attacks from two rival gangs.

Onovwakpoyeya said the command was already investigating both killings to unravel the perpetrators of the crime.
