The Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, has slated October 2 for the resumption of academic activities for the second semester of the 2020/2021 academic session.
It, however, stated that the resumption was for final year students in their Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND) programmes.
The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, had confirmed to NIGER DELTA TODAY (NDT) Online that academic activities would return to tertiary institutions in the state on October 2nd.
Muoboghare said students will resume in phases in conformity with the COVID-19 protocols by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
According to a circular issued by the institution’s Registrar Office on Thursday directed both academic and non-academic staff to return to duty on September 21.

The circular read , This is to inform the General Public, the Polytechnic Community, Parents/Guardians and Students that ND ll and HND ll students of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, will resume for their second semester 2020/2021 academic session on Friday 2nd October, 2020, sequel to the State Government approval.
“Meanwhile, the polytechnic has ordered all staffs (Academic and non-academic) including ADHOC, to resume work on Monday 21st, September 2020.”
The statement noted that the resolution was reached at the end of the polytechnic’s Academic Board Meeting.
It, however, enjoined all returning staff and students to be COVID_19 compliant, as there would be thorough check at the school gate and lecture halls.
