Delta PDP Chieftain Rejects Gov Okowa’s Appointment, Endorses Peter Obi For President

Mr. Josiah Omenuwoma,  a chieftain of Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has rejected a political appointment offered him by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Okowa had offered Omenuwoma as his Special Assistant (Youth Mobilization) in an appointment letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Patrick Ukah.

But Omenuwoma in a letter addressed to the Governor Okowa through the SSG rejected the appointment.

He said he was turning down the appointment owing to his support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, for the 2023 presidential election.

Governor Okowa is the running mate to the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

A copy of the letter rejecting Okowa’s appointment by Omenuwoma was sighted by NIGER DELTA TODAY on Sunday.

Omenuwoma in the letter titled “Letter of Decline” and dated August 2nd, 2023, thanked Governor Okowa for the appointment but added “opportunity was presented at a time I couldn’t accept”.

The rejection letter reads, “In reference to your letter dated 22nd July 2022 with reference number SGD 399/T68/1882.

“Thank you very much for offering me the opportunity to work and serve as Special Assistant (Youth Mobilization) to the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

“After Careful thought and deliberation, I have decided to Decline this opportunity, It’s unfortunate that the opportunity was presented at a time I couldn’t accept.

“This was a very difficult decision and I sincerely appreciate the Appointment and I do regret that I am unable to render my services at the moment but In future I will be more than happy to accept and work, I am sure any other youth appointed as my replacement will do well.

“Once again, I would like to express my gratitude, May God bless you and give you more wisdom and enablement to finish strong on the smart agenda.”

Omenuwoma also took to his Facebook to explain why he cannot support Governor Okowa joint ticket with PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku.

He said he was supporting Peter Obi over Okowa for a better Nigeria.

Omenuwoma wrote, “I choose to be OBIDIENT and I have decided to remain actively OBIDIENT because I strongly believe that Nigeria will be better if Mr Peter Obi is President by 2023.

“I sincerely wish to thank Is Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to have graciously offered me the opportunity to serve and I most grateful to my Caring Big Brother/Friend, Distinguished Leader, My great Supporter and Father to have recommend me, influenced and facilitated the appointment, “Big Bros you don too show me love wen I no fit forget” It’s unfortunate the came at this time that I have actively engaged and Committed myself to the OBIDIENT Movement.

“I am so sorry that I have to decline the appointment, I would have really loved to serve, this was a very difficult decision.

“I wish to also appreciate all those that Supported me, those that criticized me (Constructively or destructively), those that were proud of me and those that we disappointed.
