Delta Man Absconds After Beating His Two-Year-Old Son To Death In Bayelsa

There was pandemonium at the Immiringi Road in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after a middle-aged man simply identified as Vwede allegedly flogged his two-year-old to death.

The father, who had since fled the state immediately the death of his son was confirmed by medical personnel, is alleged to constantly torture his late son.

Vwede, who is from Delta State, after beating the son to a point where he could not move, rushed the deceased to Answer Clinic along the Ruthmore Hotel Road at Immiringi where he was confirmed dead.

The incident, according to residents occurred on Sunday September 26, 2021.

NIGER DELTA TODAY (NDT) learnt that the suspect brutally inflicted different degrees of injuries on the baby.

Meanwhile, neighbours and women lawyers in Bayelsa State have expressed anger over development.

The women lawyer under a rights group, Do Foundation, have vowed to pursue justice for the deceased.

Do Foundation which is in forefront of the campaign against gender violence and protection of the child condemned incident and called on security agents to ensure that the fleeing father of the deceased is arrested.

Head of Legal, Do foundation, Stanley Churchill Aimiekumo Esq. said the landlord of the residence in which the killer father resides called the foundation to alert them of the development.

The group stated that the landlord claimed that the dead child was constantly being tortured by the father before the latest incident claimed his life.

It was also gathered that the deceased mother may have abandoned the child with his father and ran away.

The State Coordinator, Do Foundation, Comfort Itoru Esq., said the incident have been reported at the Akenfa Police Station and the killer father had since fled to an unknown place.

Itoru said her foundation has reached out to other advocacy groups in the state including the State Gender Response Initiative Team (GRIT) to prevail on the men of the Nigeria Police to investigate and prosecute the man who killed an innocent child.

”We have reached out to other advocacy groups over the incident. We however called on residents of the state not to keep quiet in the face of noticeable violence against the girl child, under aged and women”, Itoru appealed.
