Delta Loses 3rd Monarch In Six Months As Ijaw Traditional Ruler Joins Ancestors

An Ijaw monarch and Ebenanaowei of Oporomor Kingdom in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Capt. Samuel Evah (retd). Egran 1, is dead.

The traditional ruler reportedly joined his ancestors in February this year.

Egran 1, who was a retired military officer, reigned for 25 years.

He was crowned as a traditional ruler in 1996

Sources told our correspondent that the death of the late monarch would be officially be announced this week in line with Ijaw tradition.

Egran 1 became the third traditional ruler to have passed on in the last six months in Delta after the passage of the Olu of Warri who died in December, 2020 and the Ovie of Igbide in Isoko South LGA who passed In January in 2021.
