The Director-General of Ofoni Support Assembly (OSA), Comrade Henry Omodjota, has called on the people of Uvwie council area of Delta State to support the quest by Chief Anthony Ofoni to become the next council chairman of Uvwie LGA.
Omodjota said Ofoni is coming into the political space to render quality leadership and raise the bar of social services to the people of Uvwie for the overall development of the council.
Addressing newsmen in Effurun, administrative and traditional headquarters of Uvwie people, the Director-General of OSA described the Chief Ofoni, a seasoned and grassroots politician, as man that is coming to serve the people of the council.
Ofoni, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has commenced consultation with leaders and members of the PDP for the party’s ticket in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

Omodjota observed that Chief Ofoni is the best candidate to fly the flag of the PDP in the local government considering his popularity and sincerity to serve the people of the area.
According to him, Chief Ofoni has made significant contributions to the growth and well-being of the people of Uwvie and he is coming to the chairmanship office to continue the good work he started as a community leader.
He said, “Chief Ofoni has good dreams for the development of the local government. He is coming for the council chairmanship with people oriented ideas and an open door policy for the good of Uwvie people.
“I have worked with him and I know him. I cannot support somebody I know cannot perform and unite the people of Uvwie for the development of the area. He has the blueprint to eradicate underdevelopment and youth restiveness in the council.”
Mr Ofoni does not appear to me as knowledgeable enough of the degree of lawlessness and thuggery prevalent in Uvwie LGA particularly Ekpan where armed robbery and lawlessness is the order of the day. Despite the law abolishing ‘deve’ Collections, this is killing growth and development in the area.
