Delta Journalist’s Mobile Phone Shop Burgled In Udu LGA


Hoodlums believed to be armed robbers have burgled a mobile phone shop belonging to a female journalist and Assistant Editor of South-South International Magazine, Success Okuchemiya, in Delta State.

The shop located at the popular Oghior Modern Market in Ovwian, Udu Local Government of the state, was attacked on Sunday night.

The journalist turned entrepreneur confirmed the incident on Monday saying that the robbers broke into the shop through the ceiling.

Success told journalists that mobile sets estimated to worth about N100,000 were carted away by the now fleeing suspects.

While expressing shock at the development, she stated that she was yet to come to terms on the hoodlums gained access into the shop when there are security operatives detailed to protect the market.

She said she hadn’t defaulted in the monthly payment of security levy at the market yet her shop was burgled and no one had been held responsible for the crime.

The journalist, who also a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, disclosed that she had reported the incident to the police at Ovwian/Aladja Station of the Delta State Police Command.

“On seeing the incident in the early hours of Monday 05/07/2021 I quickly drew the attention of the policemen as well as the market master to the incident who similarly came to inspect it.

“However, I haven’t received any positive response from them since I reported the case. One of them claimed the robbers came through the back of the plaza. Two shops were attack but it was only from my store they stole”, Success recounted.
