A former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori , was on Wednesday night absent at the Church Vigil and prayer service organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before kick-starting the party’s campaigns for the 2019 in the state.
Ibori is the “Mr. Fix It” of Delta State politics and leader of the PDP.
Dr. Emmanuel Uduagha, Ibori’s cousin has since left PDP for APC where he served as Secretary to State Government and Governor for two terms.
But, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, whom Ibori made governor while still serving his jail terms in far-away United Kingdom, has for the umpteenth time boasted that the PDP and its candidates for the elections were not scared of the 2019 general elections.
He particularly stated that the PDP will win all elections in the state.
Okowa at a church vigil to dedicate the PDP campaign for 2019 general elections to God at Government House Asaba, said the PDP was not perturbed by the gang up by the oppositions including the All Progressives Congress to wrestle power from him.
The governor stated that PDP members were ready to win the “election battle.”
Speaking at the event attended by the state PDP chairman, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso; the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor said, “Because we have put God first, we have no need to be scared going into the campaigns or scared of the elections. God is leading us into the battle, we will have victory.”
He revealed that the opposition APC was relying on small gods and they will be defeated at the polls irrespective of their clandestine plots, adding that Delta will never return to satan and its agents.
According to him, “As a people and as a party, there is no doubt that we have been working hard these three and half years to deliver democratic dividends to our people, but it is significant that we come to the presence of God today to seek Him.
“It is going to be the battle of the spirits and our God will prevail. Our opponents that are relying on small gods will fail.
“Delta State can never return back to Satan. Be strong and be of good courage. Go into the campaign praying together, go out with one mind trusting in God our Lord and victory will be ours.“
“We are not going into the campaign to cast aspersion on others, we are going there to tell the people what we have achieved and we have achieved a lot to campaign with.”
Director General of the campaign council, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon took the first lesson at the service which was also attended by Prof. Sam Oyovbaire, Senator Patrick Osakwe, among other members of the campaign council.
